Owl Art List

Owls er noen av de mest populære raptorene, ikke bare for deres nattlige vaner og utrolig uttrykksfulle ansikter, men også for deres fremragende evner og de mange legender og overtro som omgir dem. Typer av ugler

Det er mer enn 225 uglearter i verden, delt inn i to familier. Barnugler med sine distinkte hjerteformede ansiktsskiver utgjør Tytonidae- familien, mens alle andre uglearter er i Strigidae- familien. Det kan virke som om det er mange flere arter, men fordi mange ugler går av en rekke forskjellige vanlige navn i hele sitt område. Dette gjør det viktig å lære de vitenskapelige navnene på ugler å være sikre på riktig identifikasjon og ikke feil en vanlig navn for en helt annen art.

Mens bare en håndfull uglearter er klassifisert som truet, er nesten 50 arter sårbare eller truet med drastisk befolkning avtar. Flere arter har ikke blitt studert godt nok til å gjøre en riktig bestemmelse av deres status, og så kan antallet uker som kan være i fare for utryddelse bli enda høyere. Lokale befolkninger kan også lide store trusler i deler av deres utvalg, men ikke betraktes truet eller truet over hele verden.
